報告摘要

We are fortunate on the edge to embrace the revolutionary progress of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and to witness the enthusiasm of translational AI deployments sweeping across all sectors in our life and work. The almost simultaneous rise of transformational deep learning, big data, and powerful computational machines since 2010 is progressively enabling AI systems to perceive, learn, reason, and behave like a human, and makes the next generation of AI systems distinct from those developed in the past. Thus, it is critical to better understand why deep learning is capable and has the capacity to raise the third wave of AI. In this talk, we will present our investigations, initiatives, and insights to the interpretation of the successful deep learning.

報告人簡介

陶大程教授

IEEE/AAAS/ACM Fellow、 歐洲科學院外籍院士、澳大利亞科學院院士

陶大程教授於中國科學技術大學取得學士學位，香港中文大學取得碩士學位，英國倫敦大學取得博士學位。畢業後，先後在中國香港理工大學、新加坡南洋理工大學，澳大利亞悉尼科技大學、悉尼大學任教。

主要從事人工智能領域的研究，在權威雜誌和重要會議上發表了200餘篇論文；並多次獲得最佳論文獎項，包括IEEE ICDM 2007 年度最佳理論/算法論文獎第二名、IEEE ICDM 2013 年度最佳學生論文獎、2014 IEEE ICDM 10年最大影響力論文獎和IEEE信號處理協會2017年度最佳論文獎。2015年獲得澳大利亞尤里卡獎以及悉尼科技大學校長獎章、2018年獲得IEEE ICDM研究貢獻獎。
